Two Hands COVID-19 Safety FAQ

Dr with Cleaning Supplies

1) Are patients and staff wearing masks?

Yes, masks are required to enter the building and the office. Please contact the office if you have a medical condition that excludes you from wearing a mask.

2) Are you doing screenings for COVID-19 prior to appointments?

Yes, we are doing an electronic COVID-19 screening two days prior to patient appointments, an in-office COVID screening including temperature check once in the office, and all staff will do a screening and temperature check twice each shift.

3) Is the office sanitized between patients?

Yes, we always sanitize treatment tables after use, but we have added more frequent disinfecting of the common areas with CDC recommended products and updated some equipment so that it is easier to disinfect.

4) Is it safe to get an adjustment, acupuncture or manual therapy since you can’t social distance during the treatment?

Yes, if we all wear our masks, have proper air flow, disinfect frequently (including hand washing), social distance when possible, and keep the number of people in the office to a minimum we can interact with low risk of COVID transmission. Staff will also be spraying down their clothes with alcohol in between patients.

5) Where did you find your information for how to safely practice with COVID?

We are following the recommended guidelines for healthcare set by the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, Chicago Department of Public Health, and the Illinois Chiropractic Society.

6) Your waiting room is small, how will you ensure social distancing?

We have made the yoga room into a larger waiting room and we have also installed a large sneeze guard at the front desk. We will also be trying to make the office flow as smoothly and quickly as possible to reduce each patient’s time in the office.

7) What else are you doing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

  • We have switched from reusable to disposable cups in the waiting room.
  • We have removed shared items (magazines, toys, tea, snacks) from the waiting room.
  • We have increased the cleaning of common areas.
  • We will generally not be using hot packs as usual.
  • Air purifiers will be used in the therapy rooms and other doors will be left open.
  • We are keeping our ventilation system running all of the time.
  • We have left additional time between patients to allow for less patients in the office and more time for cleaning.
  • The staff will be changing into clean scrubs/shoes when they arrive and changing out of them before they leave to go home.
  • Anyone that doesn’t pass the screening is asked to stay home.
  • Anyone that feels sick is asked to stay home.
  • We are waiving our cancellation fee for illness or caring for someone who is ill.

In this time of uncertainty you can be certain that we will do our very best to go above & beyond to deliver optimal care in a safe environment.

8) I have heard you are now offering telehealth appointments. What is a telehealth appointment?

A telehealth appointment with Dr. Shanna or Dr. Christine would likely be for an exam, re-exam, or test review via video from your home or work. We are using telehealth appointments to reduce time spent face-to-face (mask-to-mask) in the office. The doctors can take a thorough history and do some examining via a telehealth video session prior to seeing you in person. Telehealth appointments can be done on your smart phone or computer. Telehealth appointments are billed the same as in-office appointments.

Detox with the Docs Starts January 20!

We hope everyone had a joyous and relaxing holiday season. We all tend to overdo it a bit over the holidays, so this time of year can be a great time to detox. We are offering $20 off our 7-day and 21-day detox programs. The sale is going on from now until February 14. If you are looking to improve detox and relaxing results buy Kratom

Pick up your detox kit the next time you’re at our office or call or email us to order one (we can ship to you!). You can detox with the Docs too. Dr. Shanna and Dr. Christine start their programs on January 20.

Detoxification, also known as purification, can help you remove toxins from your body and help maintain a healthy weight. We are exposed to external toxins everyday, including pollutants, pesticides, and chemicals. Internally our bodies produce waste byproducts as a result of normal metabolic function. Although your body is designed to rid itself of these toxins naturally, it can become overburdened. Detoxification offers your body additional support so you can get a jumpstart on a healthy 2018.

Please Welcome Dr. Christine T. Pan to the Two Hands Family!

drsPlease welcome Dr. Christine T. Pan to the Two Hands family! We are very lucky to have such a compassionate, accomplished, and seasoned doctor on our team.

Here’s a short Q&A to help you get to know Dr. Pan.

1) How long have you been practicing? When did you graduate from chiropractic school?

I graduated from the same school as Dr. Shanna (National University of Health Sciences) in December 2007 and have been practicing for 9 years.

2) Where did you grow up?

A small town in upstate New York.

3) Why did you become a chiropractor?

I liked the idea of being able to heal with my hands and to provide a holistic approach to health. I believe the mind and body are synced when it comes to physical distress as well as healing. If I can bring relief to the body without the effects of drugs or surgery, it’s ideal.

4) Why did you learn acupuncture?

My brother was the first to introduce it to me. He learned acupuncture as an Internal Medicine resident at UCLA and had talked about the beneficial results he was getting with patients. He was right.

I have found that it has a wonderful synergistic effect when used with chiropractic and it broadens the scope of healing outside the realm of NMS conditions.

5) What is your favorite thing about being a Doctor of Chiropractic?

Making people feel better.

6) Where did you work before Two Hands?

I started practicing at the Balancing Point Center for Wellness. I have also worked for The American Back Center, and most recently, The Wellness Studio in Lincoln Park.

7) Do you remember how we met? Just at school? How did you end up renting that room from me? and how did you end up doing coverage for me? And was my honeymoon the first time you covered for me?

I think I saw your ad on the NUHS website in the fall of 2008. I called you up one day and we had coffee at that place around the corner. You were a fast talker and genuine, and it made me a little nervous at first because we learned in school how you have to be careful with people trying to take advantage of you as an independent contractor and I was a little surprised at how fair your deal was that I must be missing something. But no, you were fair as you have always and ever been. I remember watching you grow from your office and thinking to myself, “She’s got a good head for business, this one. She makes it sound so easy, but it’s not. I like that she gets an idea or vision in her head and just figures out how to make it happen.” It was truly inspiring. I never told you that. I was bummed that you weren’t ready to hire an associate then. I guess I only had to wait 8 years.

First time I covered for you at Two Hands was your honeymoon! 🙂

8) Do you have a favorite thing to treat? If so, what is it?

Pregnant (including pre- and post-) population, sinuses. Head and neck, TMJ, pelvic imbalances. Nothing super glorious. Really, I don’t think I have a favorite part of the body.

9) You are starting at Two Hands very soon. Is there anything you are particularly looking forward to?

Just adding to my knowledge and technique base to become an even more versatile practitioner. Getting back into integrating more with the nutritional side of things and primary care type conditions. I’m excited to be working with the staff and of course alongside Dr. Shanna. Being downtown has a vibe and vibrancy that is different and exciting so it will be good to be back in the loop again. Getting to meet my husband for lunch every now and then.

10) Where did you go to undergrad? and what was you degree? Did you start DC school right away or did you do another job first?

I graduated undergrad from Colgate University with a BA with major in psychology and pre-med focus. I would have minored in music if I could squeeze in the credits, but opted to study abroad in Australia instead. I made the right choice.

I also earned my Masters of Education in K-12 school counseling and was a middle school counselor for five years. I changed my career because I missed healing the physical along with the emotional side of things and wanted to “fine tune” my career path to incorporate both. The first day of chiropractic school, I knew I had found my calling and have never looked back.DrPanFamily

11) What are the names of your kids and their ages? What is your husband’s name?

Ainsley, 6
Emmy, 3
Everett, 3
Brian Bassett is my husband

14) What neighborhood do you live in?

Ravenswood

Detox with the Doc is back!

detox2016

Detox with the Doc is here again! We finished the year off with a bang. We blew the lids off of our healthy diets and went a little crazy. The cookies are almost gone, so let’s plan to get back on the right track for 2017. As always the detox kits are on sale for the new year! Save $20 from now until February 13th!

A question I am often asked in the office is “How did my body get out of alignment? Why do I have this pain?” My answer is always “chemical, physical and emotional stressors – it is a perfect storm”. A liver detox helps us to reduce the toxins or stressors coming into our body while promoting and supporting the healthy release of toxins from the body by way of the liver. During the detox you eat only foods that support detoxification, including lots of antioxidants. On the third day of the detox we add a supplement that supports liver detoxification, allowing toxins to be released from the liver. The antioxidants then carry the toxins out of the body.

This year we have a few new options to help you maximize your detox.

1) Rate your Toxic Burden.

We have a Before & After questionnaire included in your detox kit that will rate your level of toxic burden before and after the detox.

2) No more Chemicals in our Cosmetics!

sophytoproWe have started carrying SophytoPRO, a 90% organic, 100% gluten-free, cruelty-free, toxin-free skin care line that won’t break the bank and doesn’t suck!

So what does this have to do with the Detoxic Harga Our skin is our largest organ and anything you put on your skin is absorbed into your body. Hidden toxins in cosmetics are a huge issue that many people don’t think about. The average American women is exposed to 126 unique chemicals in her personal care products per day. 126 unique chemicals every day that are linked to cancer and hormone disruption!

If you have done the detox in the past, perhaps this time you step it up and start using effective toxin-free products year round, therefore reducing your toxic load massively! SophytoPRO has a line for anti-aging and a line for acne-prone skin. I have been using it for a year and it just keeps getting better. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

During the detox the SophytoPro products are all 15% off! Learn more at www.sophytopro.com

3) Free classes.

This year we are offering a couple of free classes to assist with your detox!

Rana is teaching a free 30-minute nutrition workshop on Wednesday, January 25, “Sweeten Your Life Without Sugar”. Click here to register for Rana’s workshop.

John is teaching an hour long class that will focus on basic Qi Gong breathing exercises, warm ups and stretches to prepare for meditation and a 20 minute guided meditation. This class will focus on techniques to reduce stress, promote relaxation and increase energy. Click here to register for John’s class.

If you are not doing Detox with the Doc this time we would still love to have you in class! You can sign-up on our website. Stress is toxic!

Yours in Health & Wellness,
Dr. Shanna Fritsch

Chiropractors have the most secure job in America

Make a difference, help people, love your job! Maybe you should be a chiropractor too!

Article below from March 27, 2015, BY  taken from website, see link at the end of the article.

If you’re looking for job security, you might want to consider becoming a chiropractor.

Financial company 24/7 Wall Street analyzed the 2014 unemployment rates from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics for nearly 600 jobs. The study found chiropractic jobs were the most secure, with an unemployment rate of just .1 percent.

“I’m not surprised to see that number. It’s something we’ve known for a long time,” said Dr. Kevin Cunningham, vice chancellor for student affairs at Davenport’s Palmer College of Chiropractic.

Cunningham says more and more people are looking for alternative healthcare, and Palmer students are reaping the benefits.

The job placement rate for graduates is roughly 95 percent.

“At any one time on our job board, we have somewhere between 1,200 and 1,300 jobs listed. We can’t even fill all the positions that our alumni are looking for in our graduates,” said Cunningham.

Each year, nearly half of Palmer’s 700 graduates open their own practice. For this reason, many of the lessons revolve around business skills, as well as science and health.

Andrew White is a current student who hopes to own his own practice someday, too.

“When I would apply for a job when I was working undergrad, I always felt kind of nervous, like they were the asset and I was just hoping to get some of it. Now, I see myself as an asset,” said White.

He feels confident he’ll find a job in a couple years, regardless of whether he starts his own business or first works as an associate for another doctor.

“As long as you pay attention in class, and you’re putting forth all the effort, you’re going to be a great doc. You’re going to get patients, because you’re going to change lives,” said White.

Several other jobs in the medical field made the list of most secure jobs, including dentist, physician assistant, surgeon and medical tech.

Farmers came in tenth with 1 percent unemployment.
